I came to the Creative Journaling for Self-Care course at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when we were being told to shelter in place. I found myself with a lot of anxiety and fear and too much time on my hands for thinking. Nicolle’s engaging and warm style and her gentle encouragement was just what I needed. Her course allowed me to find a place of calm and creativity amid a storm of crazy. In addition, the 30-minute one-on-one session proved to be invaluable – Nicolle urged me to open up to the idea of creating based on images instead of words, and that is not only fun but a welcome relief from all the words around us all the time. Creative Journaling: Self-Care for the Helping Professional

Renew your Focus, Reduce your Stress

*This Course is approved by the CACCF for 6 hours of Continuing Education Units, Certificate issued.

This is a professional development course designed for working professionals in any of the helping professions (education, health, social services, psychology, essential services) with a focus on mental health awareness, including trauma and addiction. Led by Addiction Counselor, Nicolle Nattrass CAC II, we will explore the benefits of journaling as a self-care tool for both counselor personal and professional self-care and client care. Helping professionals will experience first hand, the power of journal writing exercises, a variety of journal writing techniques to support and process their own work, reduce stress and focus on Self-Care to maintain healthy balance. Reflection and renewal of personal & professional purpose.

Led by Certified Addiction Counselor, Nicolle Nattrass this course & program was created in 2013 and designed for families and for those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, whether new or long term recovery.

A trauma-informed approach to journaling that is accessible, does not require writing experience and promotes creative self-care and reclaiming joy. The focus is on Self-care, using journaling as an outlet and window into self- grounding tool, prevention and awareness tool and uncover and reclaim creative interests through journaling.

Curriculum includes writing techniques, how to use writing prompts, touchstones and affirmations to improve and support recovery choices.  Whether you are in recovery from a loss, trauma, stress from Covid-19 or addiction, Journaling is a powerful tool to ground us now. This course is also a great fit for those in treatment, Alumni or Aftercare program.

No writing experience is required.
