Nicolle is a professional actor ( CAEA/ UBCP) , a graduate from the University of Victoria with a BFA in Theatre, Acting Specialization (1991). She also studied in a unforgettable Summer Lab Intensive with Monsieur Jacques Lecoq at l’ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France where she actually built the structure of “JOY” in French of course.
Nicolle’s career as an actor has spanned across Canada to regional theatres, where she has had the opportunity to perform in over 30 dramatic and comedic roles. Nicolle has also worked as an actor in radio, film/tv and theatre. She also has worked as a Director and Dramaturg.
Some of her most favorite theatre roles have included: “B” in PostSecret (Firehall Theatre), Carol in Oleanna, (Nanaimo Festival Theatre), Constanze in Amadeus, (Western Canada Theatre), Isabelle in The Orphan Muses, (English language premiere, Belfry Theatre/Western Canada Theatre), Maggie in Lend Me A Tenor (Theatre NorthWest), Patsy in Perfect Pie and Eve in Waiting for the Parade (Great Canadian Theatre Company). Nicolle began writing & performing comedy by touring her own solo shows in 1998, with her first one woman show, Brownie Points, Boldly Going Where No Brownie Has Gone Before. This solo show was nominated for “Outstanding Performance” & “Outstanding Original Play” at the 1998 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards, receiving Pick of the Vancouver Fringe, many productions, an American premiere and was adapted into an award winning short film. Her passion in theatre led her to began to explore her own voice and write her own plays.
To date, Nicolle has written 11 new plays, received professional productions of her work, including 2 additional solo shows, Mamahood: Bursting into Light directed by TJ Dawe has received critical acclaim and has been performed across Canada. Through this autobiographical solo show, she became a Maternal Mental Health Advocate and part of her story is published in an anthology, You Are Not Alone, an anthology of Perinatal Mental health stories from conception to postpartum.
